Executive FAQ
What exactly is Nova?
Nova is a third-party platform that modernizes the Ingenium life-insurance core (legacy COBOL on AIX). It integrates with your existing system and upgrades it in stages — it does not replace or modify your Ingenium licence or source. You keep your business logic, data, and full IP ownership.
Has this been done before?
Yes. Nova is proven in production from a real AIX-to-Linux migration completed in ~9 months, where deployment time for a representative change moved from around 3 hours to about 20 minutes with a planned downtime window of about 5 minutes per deployment. (Client details are confidential; we can walk through an anonymized case under NDA.)
Is this a full core replacement?
No. Nova is staged modernization. It protects your existing Ingenium logic and gives you a controlled path forward, one phase at a time, with rollback at each step.
Do we have to move to the cloud?
No. The Foundation phase moves Ingenium from AIX to Linux, which can be on-premise, hybrid, or cloud — your choice.
How quickly can we see value?
A 6-week, Windows-first POC can demonstrate the build-and-deploy improvement and produce a board-ready evidence pack, followed by an included 6-month trial period for extended evaluation.
What is the risk compared to big-bang programs?
Much lower. Nova isolates scope, proves value early on your own system, and keeps every step reversible — instead of a multi-year all-or-nothing replacement.
What should be in the first board update?
- The before/after build-and-deploy baseline from the POC
- POC scope and governance model
- Decision gates and investment scenarios for the next phase
- Risks, dependencies, and mitigation ownership
